A Very Good Day

September 18, 2007

Today was a really really good day. We started out by going to Kaufland's. My most favorite place in Romania. I am only kidding. I got some treats to take with my on my first train ride ever to Constanta!! I am really excited. Hopefully it will be warm enough to swim in the Black Sea.

I then went on splits again with Sora Beck. I love her so much, she seriously is like my best friend in Romania. She is so fun and nice. We really get along well.

By going on splits I am really growing as a person. The more I interact with the people on the gospel level I love them more and more. They are so amazing. These young girls in the branch are so incredible. They have been though things that I could never imagine and they hold strong to the Gospel. It is so sad to see them struggle with things that by the mere fact that they are Romanian can cause. They are true pioneers in the Lord's church here in Romania. I love being able to talk to them and answer the questions that they have. I love teaching lessons because I like seeing the light turn on in their eyes. Being bale to see that they are really starting to understand the Gospel and that the Lord loves them so much. A big struggle for new converts and investigators is that the Romanian Orthodox Church teaches that if you change your religion you are going to Hell. They learn that all their lives so it is hard to take that away. I mean they know the Gospel and the Church is true but they get so afraid that they will go to Hell. There was this one girl that we were teaching today. She is a young college student and is incredibly smart. She is trying to find out which church is true and wants to know as much as she can about all of them. When we were talking to her she would get so excited because things and ideas were starting to make sense. I really think that she was starting to recognize the spirit. I have fallen in love with that look or idea or moment that a person recognizes the Gospel and Spirit.

Going street contacting can be so exhilarating. I can tell though that if I was a real missionary it would stress me out major. I would feel like I would have to talk to every person I pass. Ha ha ha I am crazy. I just love doing the errand of the Lord. I am so grateful that I am able to do a little bit of that while I am here. I brings me back and helps me refocus on how amazing this Gospel is and how blessed I am. I never could have imagined the change that is already happening. I am so excited:)

We then taught English and the Villa. It was really fun. People from all over the community come for free English lessons. I really liked being able to speak and teach in English for once. It gets sort of hard to keep trying to speak Romanian. I think it will get easier as I go.

Anywho I would love to hear about your day and what is new in your lives! Please feel free to email me or leave comments:)
